Ammisorb: Consultancy for validating the market potential for decentralized green ammonia production
1. GENERAL INFORMATION:
Date: 16-03-2026
Questions and proposals should be directed to: Claus Mortensen – Head of Business Acceleration at Food & Bio Cluster Denmark: cm@foodbiocluster.dk
2. PRESENTATION OF THE ISSUING ORGANIZATION:
Food & Bio Cluster Denmark is the national cluster for food and bioresources in Denmark. The organization supports innovation and sustainable development and facilitates collaboration between startups, corporates, and investors.
With a network of over 500 startups and participation in Denmark’s largest accelerator, Beyond Beta, the cluster focuses on commercialization and internationalization of solutions within foodtech, agtech, and biosolutions.
One of the startups in Beyond Beta is Ammisorp.
3. DESCRIPTION OF THE TASK UNDER MARKET EXPLORATION:
Ammisorb is developing a sorption-based ammonia extraction technology (“Sorption Booster”) designed for decentralized and low-pressure green ammonia production systems. The technology replaces conventional chiller units used for ammonia extraction, enabling smaller-scale ammonia plants to operate more efficiently and at lower cost.
The Sorption Booster is particularly relevant for emerging ammonia production technologies operating at lower pressures (typically below 50 bar), such as modular Haber–Bosch systems, electrochemical ammonia synthesis, and other distributed ammonia production concepts. These systems currently face challenges related to ammonia extraction efficiency, energy consumption, and system complexity.
The purpose of this task is to evaluate the potential integration of the Sorption Booster technology into different low-pressure ammonia synthesis systems and to assess its techno-economic value proposition in these configurations.
The consultancy support will focus on analyzing the system-level impact of integrating the Sorption Booster, including energy consumption, system efficiency, and cost implications compared to conventional ammonia extraction approaches.
4. OBJECTIVES AND SUCCESS CRITERIA:
The objective of this assignment is to support Ammisorb in validating the market potential and system-level value of the Sorption Booster technology for decentralized green ammonia production.
The specific objectives are to help the team:
- Identify relevant ammonia production technologies and system configurations where the Sorption Booster could create value
- Evaluate possible integration points of the technology within low-pressure ammonia production systems
- Get a qualitative and simplified quantitative comparison between conventional ammonia separation approaches and the Sorption Booster concept
- Identify key performance parameters that influence the competitiveness of the technology
- Provide strategic input for targeting potential partners, customers, and early demonstration opportunities
Success criteria include:
Identification of promising market segments and application scenarios
Clear understanding of how the Sorption Booster integrates into different ammonia production systems
Preliminary techno-economic insights supporting the value proposition
Strategic recommendations for technology positioning and commercialization
