Competence Building in Variable Co2 Capture in Solvent-based plants

Template for the Task Description

A good Task Description must include the following:

1. GENERAL INFORMATION:
Titel of tender: Competence Building in Variable Co2 Capture in Solvent-based plants
Your company’s name:  Co2Laborate
Address:  Frederikssundvej 14B, 2th
CVR nr.:  447888187
Date: 27.02.2026
Deadline for tender:  23.03.2026
For further questions, contact info:  Matija Salej

2. PRESENTATION OF COMPANY:
Describe briefly your company. Add link to webside, if relevant
Co2laborate is a Danish CCUS startup developing an optimization platform for CO₂ capture projects. The platform integrates technical specifications, electricity prices, grid volatility and CO₂ markets to calculate optimal capture rates and deliver decision support to industrial operators. Co2laborate works with partners in cement, waste-to-energy and bioenergy and is in dialogue with three ongoing CO₂ capture projects. Learn more at:www.co2laborate.com
3. DESCRIPTION OF THE TASK UNDER MARKET EVALUATION:
Present a detailed and precise description of the task you want a quote for.

Co2laborate’s optimization platform advises industrial clients on economically optimal capture scenarios. To strengthen the platform’s technical foundation, we need a deeper understanding of the properties in solvent-based CO₂ capture – particularly regarding variable capture, response times, energy consumption and operating limits.

• Validation of variable capture: Is it technically feasible to increase and decrease the capture rate in solvent-based plants? What are the realistic minimum and maximum capture rates (turn-down ratio)?
• Response times and dynamic behaviour: How quickly can a solvent-based plant change capture rate (ramp-up/ramp-down times)? What delays and inertia effects must be accounted for?
• Energy consumption at varying operation: How does the specific energy consumption (reboiler duty, (MJ/kwh)/tonne CO₂) change when the capture rate varies? Is the relationship linear or non-linear?

• Waste heat availability: How does varying the capture rates % influence waste heat output?
• Fundamental process understanding: Absorber and stripper design, solvent properties (amine-based solvents), interaction between key parameters (temperatures, energy consumption, lean/rich loading)
• Consequences of dynamic operation: Impact on solvent degradation, emissions and plant lifetime from frequent variation in capture rate compared to steady-state operation

The purpose is purely competence building: to ensure that Co2laborate’s team acquires sufficient process engineering understanding to assess whether variable CO₂ capture is technically realistic, and under which conditions it makes sense.

4. TASK OBJECTIVES AND SUCCESS CRITERIA:
Describe the goal of the task and how it can be measured/ensured that the task is solved to satisfaction.

The objective is for Co2laborate’s team to acquire sufficient understanding of solvent-based CO₂ capture to assess whether variable capture is technically realistic in specific client projects. Success criteria:

• Co2laborate can define realistic technical parameters and operating limits for solvent-based capture plants (typical energy consumption, response times, ramp rates, turn-down ratios)
• Co2laborate can independently assess whether a given capture scenario with variable capture rate is realistic based on process constraints (solvent stability, emissions compliance, energy balance)
• Co2laborate has gained documented understanding of the relationship between capture rate, energy consumption, waste heat and operating costs under dynamic vs. steady-state operation
• The acquired competence is documented in an internal technical memo summarising the key learnings and parameters

5. BUDGET OG SPECIFICATION OF AN OFFER:
We expect a written offer to include at least:
• Date of submission of offer
• A brief presentation of the bidder, stating the CVR number and contact details. If relevant, with references and history
• Bidder's proposal for solving the task
• Specification of the price for solving the task (60.000 DKK excl. VAT)
• Discount, if relevant
• Timeframe and end date
• Conditions for the offer, if any

6. BACKGROUND FOR THE TENDER:
Beyond Beta is subject to a number of requirements for good, healthy financial management, including documentation that the agreed price for external purchases is an expression of the market price. This tender is part of these requirements.
We emphasize that the bidder must only make an offer on the requested task.
Services of executing or implementing nature cannot be approved
The winning bid is chosen based on an assessment of the best correlation between price and quality
